Hi! I’m SJ Finlay (though IRL I go by Sam), and I have 10 years of filmmaking experience. I’ve directed an award winning feature docu-drama film, a number of award winning short films and five seasons of documentary TV series for Telus Originals managing budgets of up to 250k. 

A few years ago I hired a filmmaking coach (at about $300/hr!!) to help guide me on what I knew would be a make or break project for my career. Not only did he guide me with that project, but he helped steer me in the right direction overall, away from various rabbit trails and dead ends that might have led to burnout and frustration and towards a niche that has been a great fit for me over the long term. To be honest, that experience was totally invaluable to me and my career.
